Łukasz Twarkowski, today the hottest Polish name in the European theatre, has again worked for the National Drama Theatre in Vilnius, where he previously prepared his acclaimed Lokis and Respublica. Two years ago, his Rohtko, co-produced by the Dailes Teātris in Riga, Latvia, and the Kochanowski Theatre in Opole, was the Festival’s highlight. This time, the Boska Komedia / Divine Comedy will be home to the first Polish performances of Qanta, Twarkowski’s latest great production. Life consists of quanta of events that make up interpenetrating stories and the changing human lives” Twarkowski and his playwright Joanna Bednarczyk seem to say. We are taken to 1938, to a place far away from the tourist routes, somewhere in the Swiss Alps. Together with the hotel guests, whose number includes the discoverer of the uncertainty principle, Werner Heisenberg, we experience a disruption of space and time. Memories and biographies mingle, the world slips out of its frame…

The mosaic tale also draws in the audience.

Twarkowski created Quanta with a team of outstanding Lithuanian actors, including scenographer Fabien Leden, costume designer Svenja Gassen, choreographer Paweł Sakowicz, composer Lubomir Grzelak, and video artist Jakub Lech.
