There was a time when, plays were bought in bookshops, just like novels, essays, and poetry. Polish drama was widely read, staged, and discussed. It was appreciated for its relevance and accurate diagnoses of the state of the world and us ourselves.
After years of being marginalised as unfairly as unreasonably, Polish drama is returning to stand in the limelight. Consequently, playwrights demand restoring their due and rightful status of the creators of the literature and art of the theatre, authors of texts worth publishing, commenting upon, and performing. The question is how we can effectively „make polski dramat great again” here and now?
