Journalist, essayist, and, since 2002, the principal theatre critic of The Washington Post. Prior to joining its editorial team, he published reviews in The New York Times, for whom he also wrote theatre-related articles and assorted reports, and covered the US presidential campaign in 2000. He has also worked for Newsday, and received the most coveted Pulitzer Prize for one of the reports he published there. He has also served on the jury of the Pulitzer Prize four times. The journalistic career of Peter Marks began in New Jersey newspapers. Lecturer of theatre criticism at George Washington University in Washington, DC, he co-authored the book Good for the Money: My Fight to Pay Back America.
