The Grand Jury of the INFERNO Polish Contest held as part of the Boska Komedia / Divine Comedy International Theatre Festival 2017 (Divya Bhatia from India, Peter Marks from the US, Carmen Romero Quero from Chile, Barbara Regondi from Italy, and Handan Salta from Turkey) hereby awards the following prizes:

 

BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR

The award goes to SZYMON MYSŁAKOWSKI for his role in HOW I DIDN’T KILL MY FATHER, AND HOW MUCH I REGRET IT

for an example of protean virtuosity in an actor called upon to play multiple roles, both comic and serious.

 

 

BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS

The award goes to URSZULA KUŚNIERZ for her role in ANXIETY COMES AT DUSK

for demonstrating exceptional acumen in a touchstone portrayal of a child under profound stress.

 

 

BEST LEADING ACTOR

The award goes to ANDRZEJ KŁAK for MELODRAMA

for an intense and magnetic presence, transporting us emotionally through both tragic and lighter moments – a masterclass in understated acting.

 

 

BEST LEADING ACTRESS

The award goes to ANNA ILCZUK for her role in MELODRAMA

for providing a display of bravura emotionalism as a woman confronting her many demons.

 

 

BEST LIVE MUSIC

The award goes to WACŁAW ZIMPEL for his work on MY BRILLIANT FRIEND

for a sound composition that provided both a compelling background, and a powerful enrichment of characters and drama.

 

 

BEST SOUNDSCAPE

The award goes to WOJCIECH BLECHARZ for his work on ONCE UPON A LONG DAY

Vital and essential, beautifully evocative and yet minimal and resonating with gravitas.

 

 

BEST DESIGN

The award goes to ALEKSANDER PROWALIŃSKI & JAN BASZAK for their work on ANXIETY COMES AT DUSK

for evocative, distinct, original, graphic and immersive – helping the audience connect with the dark side of the story.

 

 

BEST DIRECTOR

Nagrodę otrzymuje ANNA SMOLAR za spektakl MELODRAMAT

za zakotwiczenie przedstawienia w niszczącym, dotykającym wielu sfer osobowości, wewnętrznym niepokoju bohaterów w groźnym, surrealistycznym świecie.

 

 

SPECIAL JURY PRIZE

We're very proud to award it to 1989

for making a historic period relevant to now, giving urgent voice to society through a youthful ensemble effort of rhythm, word, and melody.

 

 

GRAND PRIX – BEST PRODUCTION

We're very proud to award HOW I DIDN’T KILL MY FATHER, AND HOW MUCH I REGRET IT
